Benefiting from the huge demand for castings in the equipment manufacturing industry, the construction of China's foundry industry clusters has accelerated significantly. At the same time, driven by market elements such as logistics costs, the layout of the foundry industry has accelerated its adjustment. "Further improvement of industrial concentration and optimization of industrial layout", "gradual improvement of advanced casting technologies and casting equipment", and "green and low-carbon" have become new directions for the development of the foundry industry.
A foundry company established a factory in Anhui in 2022, with an annual output of 62,000 tons of high-quality castings. To solve problems such as limited technical capabilities, high labor costs, and low production efficiency, the factory decided to carry out technological innovation, establish an intelligent production line, and invest hundreds of millions of yuan in intelligent upgrades. After in-depth communication with the company, Autoline used intelligent and digitalization as a lever, gave full play to the advantages of automated solutions, and planned a complete intelligent production line for sand core making—sand core coating—line-side warehouse standby—sand box molding—casting—product shot blasting.
This project consists of a three-dimensional sand core warehouse and pallet conveying system, a core box/mold three-dimensional warehouse and in/out conveying system, and a WMS management system. A total of two stacker cranes are used for in/out operations. The sand core warehouse has a cargo load of 1000 kg and can handle 40 pallets per hour in/out. The mold warehouse uses a dual-station stacker crane with a cargo load of 4000 kg and a stacker crane height of 7 meters. Empty pallets are transported to the warehouse entrance via a conveyor belt, and the stacker crane receives instructions to store the empty pallets in the sand core warehouse. At the same time, to meet the needs of sand core loading, the stacker crane can take out the empty pallets and transport them to the sand core loading workstation via a conveyor belt, meeting the storage needs of different core boxes and molds of different sizes using one stacker crane.
Through the construction of intelligent manufacturing, the factory has achieved good results in reducing labor costs, improving product quality, reducing energy consumption, and improving production efficiency. In the first half of 2023, the company's production capacity increased significantly, thanks to the intelligent three-dimensional warehouse. Autoline will also use the mature experience of this sand core three-dimensional warehouse, replicate key technologies, share experience with more sand core warehouses in the foundry industry, focus on the realization of intelligent production in the foundry industry, work hand in hand with more upstream and downstream partners, and jointly build a high-quality development path for China's foundry industry.
